Aug 22 2019 I visited an old school friend today, who has recently moved into Jackman's Lodge. While visiting I had a query, so approached a nearby member of staff. They weren't able to answer my query as it was something that management deal with, so I was directed to the manager & deputy's offices. I found the manager & deputy very approachable, despite clearly being busy. They welcomed me into their office & made me feel relaxed (I thought my query was "silly"), but they reassured me that any query/concern, no matter how small, was just as important as the "big" issues

They care for mum so well but they also care about her so well too. Managers, carers, cleaners, all the staff, they all really care for mum and all the residents in their care. From big things like making sure mum drinks enough, has activites to do and getting her hair done every week, to little things like cleaning her glasses for her and keeping her nails looking nice. Jackmans Lodge is always clean and tidy, it doesn't smell and the building and individual rooms are kept well maintained and decorated. It is a safe, calm, comfortable, friendly and happy place and both mum and myself are so happy to have found it.

Jul 26 2019 The senior and manager of this home are very unapproachable and roll their eyes and speak very dismissively or defensively when you raise concerns. Working in a care home myself, I can see there are definitely improvements that can be made in my relatives care. There is no collaboration between relatives and staff. Volunteers are absolutely wonderful and activities programme is great. The garden has got much better and the decor in the home has improved. The owners definitely have the best interests of the residents at heart - I have no doubt. It’s just the manager and deputy; I feel very anxious speaking to them due to their attitude and, because of this, my relatives care has not and can not improve. I can’t recommend them to anyone as much as I’d like to.
