Woodway House

My mum has been at Woodway House for more than two years. The staff are friendly and consistent (I've never seen a temporary carer). My mum settled quickly because the carers were always the same faces and she got to know them - and they got to know her. There’s often laughter from both residents and carers and the atmosphere is relaxed. I'm kept up to date with everything that goes on with mum - the communication is excellent. The manager and the management team are very good about keeping me up to date. The building itself is a big converted house and so has a very homely feel. It's not a shiny, purpose-built, clinical facility. Instead it’s homely and cosy with lovely sitting rooms that catch the sun and have knick-knacks over the fireplace, much like what my mum is used to. And the familiarity and friendliness helps her cope with her confusion. There are different activities arranged daily by the in-house organiser, and there are opportunities to go on visits to local places of interest like Bradgate Park. They also have mini theatre shows and musicians that visit and they take part in community events like ‘scarecrow building’ at harvest. All the residents are encouraged to take part if they want to, but it’s their choice, there’s no pressure. My mum is safe, well cared for and happy. She is surrounded by people who genuinely care about her and treat her with familiar respect. I’ve already recommended Woodway House to several friends and will continue to do so.
