I moved my Mum to this home after not being happy with the previous one in Countesthopre and refusing to let her return there from a 2nd hospital stay, which could have been avoided, had Mum been kept adequately hydrated..... what a difference! Staff were attentive, caring and listened to me when I questioned, queried and requested GP visits, charts were completed and I could see them when I visited (twice daily) - sadly this was not the case with the previous home (this should be and is standard procedure). Nothing was too much trouble when Mum wasn't eating much and I requested ice cream for breakfast or other food. The room was spacious and quiet, personal hygiene was good and also a home that could offer excellent end of life care and medication . Nothing but praise, thank you for looking after Mum so well in her final days. |

Choosing a Nursing home for my Father was an incredibly stressful experience even with the care quality commission reports and my own experience as a Registered Nurse.
Dad lived at Sutton in the Elms for 18 months and neither he nor I could have asked for a more caring, supportive, even loving environment. The staff treated Dad with respect, invited his views on the way the home was managed and included him in decision processes and Dad felt that the carers were his friends. During his last few weeks when Dad was very ill I really appreciated that he could be cared for in the home and that he was not moved into the hospital environment, his care at this time was exceptional.
Thank you to ALL the staff for looking after my Dad so well. |

At the age of 97 my partner's mother was still driving and very self sufficient. All of a sudden this changed, a bout of illness and water retention was the main cause, although signs of not being able to manage on her own were starting to happen. We looked at several care homes in our local area and decided that Sutton in the Elms was the preferred choice. You cannot define what feels right, the only thing I can say is that the staff care and the place had and still continues to have a soul. Of course 4 years on, staff change and the care package should be re-assessed on a regular basis. We are still very happy with her care and she recently attained the age of 101 years, still going strong. Thanks to the staff who look after the residents in Sutton, they do a very good job. |
