1. Absolutely impossible to make an appointment at this surgery. 1) Telephone call will never be answered, 2) Receptionists even does not allow making an appointment even I was there in person (She said I had to call - when a telephone call is never be picked up, what can I do??). So I had to go to a Walk-In Centre and this happened three times.
2. Apparently they offer Electronic prescription service, Online appointment booking, and able to order or view repeat prescriptions online, but none of them works. When I log on to the online system it shows all the functions were disabled by the surgery. Now my chemist has to request my repeat prescription BY POST (and it takes ages for the surgery to send one). If the surgery disables the online functions, it should say the function is not available.
I do hope the surgery consider improvement. |

I needed a routine doctors appointment but have limited availability due to my work hours. The Receptionist at my registered surgery (East Finchley Medical Centre) was able to offer me an evening appointment at another surgery in the area - part of NHS Barnet's "Hub" scheme. This was a revelation and meant I was able to see a GP sooner and at a convienient time for me. I went to the Wentworth Medical Practice in West Finchley but understand there is also a "hub" at Woodlands Medical Practice in East Finchley, near the library. I'd really recommend using this service if needed - EFMC can book these appointments for you. |

I have been coughing badly for months and had negative Covid tests. I asked the doctor for a hospital referral. I got a list online to refer myself directly. None of the nearby hospitals were available to book. I rang the surgery again. They rang back to say that they would not be able to refer me to Whittington, where I am undergoing spinal operations and follow ups. The doctor said the hospital did not have the facility for my cough referral. When i coughed blood and sent a sample of tissues to the surgery the receptionist rang to tell me that they had made a referral now to Whittington hospital whom they had previously said would not be able to help. It is impossible to be seen by a doctor even if you can get through by phone. Receptionists make a decision as to whether the doctor will be asked to call you back. All diagnosis is done by different doctors on the phone. I am elderly, disabled, and live alone. I want to feel that I can trust my doctor to do their best for me rather than thwart me at every step when i am unwell and fairly helpless. |
