I visited the surgery on the 12 November because I moved address and my normal surgery that my son and myself have been with for over 10 years made me aware that database shows that we are not living no longer in the area so we would have to move to another surgery, the closest one to me is kingsmead surgery....so I was advised by my previous surgery because of covid it's not going to be difficult to register with a new Gp so I got the forms filled them out and took necessary documents ie my son and myself Id proof of address and tenancy agreement. When I turned up to the surgery the door was shut and had all these leaflets on the door had to read it all so I rang the buzzer and made known my presence and why I was there, shockingly someone opened a window facing the public and was speaking to me through a window. I was completely shock cause here I was speaking my personal business in front of the public so I explained to her my situation I also made her aware how eminent it is for my son to be registered as soon as possible because he is a cancer patient and he is on prescribed medication , so she asked for the forms and my documents through the window so I was literally standing outside passing her my documents through a window which I couldn't believe what was happening, when I phoned up the day before I asked what documents were needed I was told a form of Id tenancy agreement and proof of address so this is what I took with me, then shockingly another lady pushed her head through the window and rudely asked me where is proof of address for my son and where are my bank statements., I was overwhelmed and I explained to her that my son is special need and he is fully a dependent on me so at this moment he doesn't have much but hospital and college letters with his name I asked if this was alright she blatantly said no, but one of the documents I gave to her for proof of address for both my son and myself is the tenancy agreement and child tax credit letter which has both our names on it, I was told that wasn't good enough and she also said to me that they have other children in the surgery that is special need and have the documents they are asking for. After hearing all of this I was so shock minding she is speaking to me through a window for the public to hear. I made mention again to the second lady that my son has cancer he has been through ten operations he has a vo shunt as well as a cochlear implant, and her response to me was how I am suppose to know anything about that, after she mentioned those words to me that was it if this was the attitude recieve and haven't even be registered I most definitely wouldn't go anywhere near that surgery most especially my child, I was blatantly told to go somewhere else so when I was handed back my documents the lady said she is keeping my registration forms because it belongs to the surgery so I immediately told her no to give it back to me because it has personal information filled out on those forms if I'm not going to be registered why keep the forms so she handed me back through the window then immediately slammed the window in my face, I've never experience anything like this ever before very unprofessional and very embarrassing the way the staff dealt with me there was another patient outside waiting to be seen through the window and she stood and heard my whole conversation which suppose to be private and confidential but it wasn't. I am appalled by your surgery policy and I am going to take this much further because that's not the way you treat anyone at all and I am kindly asking if someone can look into this I will appreciate it. |
