I have been a patient of this practice since my family moved to the area in 1977. People tell me bad things about their doctors surgeries, but I have nothing by high praise for the Lighthouse Practice. It is never difficult to get an appointment, and you are never rushed. Every doctor I have seen has been friendly but also professional. I would not hesitate to recommend. Ignore the bad reviews, as in 40 years I have never had a bad experience here (and the receptionists are nice, friendly and helpful too). | ||||||

The automated booking system limits bookings to the immediate future. It is not possible to make a booking in excess of 2 weeks. You are encouraged to make bookings online but if you don’t have access to the internet you are directed to the receptionist (press 2) but you will wait forever to get a response. I tried 15 times in one hour but no response. Eventually got through on 01323766358 at the Lighthouse Medical Practice (IG) for assistance and I was advised they had no record when my GP would be available other than this week. As Eastbourne General were sending my GP a report on my recent examination for discussion regarding further treatment, it would not be available in time so I made an appointment with another GP instead at a later date. Alternatively, if it was necessary to see my GP then I should call at a later date when her availability would be known. This introduces further problems as making a booking by phone is very difficult if at all possible and then to see my GP usually takes around 4 weeks to arrange to discuss my ongoing treatment to which the report refers. This whole scenario is totally unacceptable and indicates a non-conformity in the management of medical practice which should be addressed and corrective action taken to improve the appointment system including assignment of attendance dates of GPs within the management system.
