It is still hard to get an appointment, although it has improved. Last year getting an appointment at either Durrington or Lime Tree was a nightmare I have always found staff (doctors nurses receptionists and all) Kind sympathetic and all round lovely folk - but you need to get the length of time its takes to get an appointment sorted - I dont know what happened, up to two or three years ago there were no problems - the bang it all seemed to collapse, but as I have said it does seem to be improving. |

On Tuesday of this week I contacted 111 about a pain in my eye. They said to phone A and E I phoned A and E who said my first port of call was my GP. I contacted Durrington Health Centre and explained the issue. She said she would speak to the GP (unknown whom) She returned to the phone saying I had go to A and E. and SHE put the phone down. her final statement being " Mrs Hoskins I have told you what the doctor said that is all I can do" then A and E said I needed a referral from the GP. I have therefor received no care or treatment. This morning Weds I have tried to book a Dr's appointment at Durrington and referred to the automated appointment line. This wonderful technology told me there were no appointments for any GP. I have tried to book an appointment for other issues this week including suspected urine infection for over two weeks constant diarrhoea for two weeks I need a referral to Queen Victoria Hospital for skin grafting after necrotising fasciitis. I work hard to keep myself fit. Last week I attended the surgery for a smear test . The appointment booked 4 weeks before. On arrival and using the computerised booking screen (just as well as the receptionist was in the middle of a conversation with her work colleagues about having lip enhancements. I was informed by the computer there would be a 25 minute wait. OK I didn't mind that nurses get very busy with slotted in appointments. What I observed the staff in reception during that time would make a whole episode of panorama. The girl at the front desk was talking to the two staff directly behind her. They were talking about everything other than work and kept eating from bags of food on the files at the back of the area I thought initially it must be lunch but as the surgery totally closes for lunch I realise this was not the case, There was a receptionist sitting at the end of the row as you approach the desk who was just sitting doing nothing and at no point did anybody check or ensure these staff were working. Please be advised this is not a rant. As qualified health and social care manager and quality assessor this is poor practice!
