Since moving to Shermanbury/Henfiled 8years ago we have been fortunate enough only to need the sevices of the Henfield Medical Centre occasionally but yesterday was one of those times. I was so impressed with the efficient and caring way my situation was dealt with. The receptionist kindly arranged for me to speak to a practice nurse, who listened to my symptoms and referred me to a doctor whose consultation was so thorough, I came away, despite still feeling very poorly, completely reassured and with medication supplied at the centre's own pharmacy. What a terrific example of NHS excellence and how lucky we are to have this on our doorstep. My wife, myself and our four children moved to Henfield twelve years ago and were appalled at the service from the Medical Centre, particularly compared to what we had been used to for many years at the Glebe Surgery in Storrington.
The receptionists in Henfield were unhelpful and confrontational, appointments were difficult to come by and waiting times in the surgery were awful. It was so bad that I tried to see if we could transfer to another surgery outside of the village. I also considered going private but that didn't seem to be an option either.
Fortunately we have a second home in Cornwall so I took to seeing a GP there as a visitor whenever (which wasn't often) that I needed to see someone.
Our recent experiences in the last couple of years (we don't often go) have however been so vastly improved that it's like a different surgery. The staff are helpful, you can get appointments and you feel it's been worthwhile. I have no idea who's made it work but well done! So saying there have been some back office administrative failings that need sorting but all in all I think the transformation has been most impressive.

Staff at this centre really go out of their way to support you - both reception and medical staff. They really show concern and treat with you courtesy, high levels of professionalism and care. Keep up the good work and thank you! |
