Mu family have been life-long patients at Parkhill Medical Practice. Consistently high levels of care from all practioners. Appointment system is fair and reception staff are always friendly, helpful and do their uttermost to accommodate your needs. Highly recommended. | ||||||

After suffering increasing pain fir days which was impacting on my ability to move around, I phone in for an appointment but was refused on grounds that only Urgent cases could see GP - obviously untrained and unqualified Receptionist did not think that I qualified despite above information, but did not seem to know the exactly the criteria needed. I was told to ring in early the next day but given no information about what to do about the increasing level of pain during the waiting period or what to do if no appointment was available the next day. Patients should not have to wait for hours in A&E departments to get the medical help they need and that should be provided by their local GP Surgeries. I have previously been very happy with the level of service from this Practice and now find myself extremely worried and frightened about the lack of access to Medical Assistance | ||||||

Only 3 Doctors left of the old practise, the main problem being it did not inform the clients of this uninformed change to allow clients to look at other medical practices in the area. The first time I phoned for a appointment I was told can you make it Sunday morning at Pembrook Surgery, I was take back the Pembrook Surgery the lady said yes its in Preston I have no car and find buses difficult. I feel so said that this once proud practise had gone without a word to its clients. Very sad client. As the previous Parkhill partnership had been unable to recruit new Doctors to join their team due to the nationwide shortage of General Practitioners they were faced with the option of merger with another practice or closure of Parkhill Surgery permanently which would have been extremely distressing for many patients. We undertook a period of public consultation prior to the merger under the direction of both NHS England and our local Clinical Commissioning Group. Patients were contacted by text message and email (where contact details were available) directing them to our website for information. Information was available in our reception and waiting areas and also published in the local press and by Healthwatch Torbay. We are therefore sorry to hear that you feel uninformed of the decision to merge practices. Clinicians are accessible every day at both Parkhill and Pembroke. If we cannot provide you with a face to face consultation we will offer you the option of a same day telephone call from a Doctor or Nurse Practitioner. As part of the Improved Access provision across Torbay we are in addition able to offer routine, pre-bookable appointments in the evening and on Saturdays and Sundays and I believe that this is where some confusion may have arisen. We would be very happy to explain the appointment system to you if you like to contact us at your convenience. | ||||||
