Chilcote Surgery

Every time I’ve contacted the surgery I’ve been spoken to with politeness and understanding, my doctor does phone me as promised, and I get an appointment that day if he thinks it’s necessary. My friend who’s with a different practice does not have the same service that Chatto gives. I’m so thankful for the care that the Doctors and staff have given me and my husband.

Chilcotte Surgery - Chatto and Deweston are both exceptional. Unfortunately I used them a great deal when I was in mental health crisis a few years ago, I know that if it wasn't for the GP's at both sites I would not be here, they had time for me, they listened they tried their very best to give me the support and recovery that I needed, although local services at the time did not give me what I expected, and access to mental health services was challenging. I am pleased to say I'm in a better place now, but as with life I've still had to pop in for the odd thing and with 2 young children had to pop in to support their health too. Whenever I've done this I have found the reception staff to be kind and polite, I have never had a problem getting an appointment, which seems rare in todays society. I found the GP's actively listen, and give appropriate support. They have dealt with my daughters issues very well and thorough. I haven't felt like I've been rushed and always felt like I had the right support needed for me and my family's health. This surgery is outstanding in everyway. Thank you very much and continue to do what you do in the same way as it makes a huge difference to peoples lives. Well done to you all.

As a visitor to the area, I was completely unsure how I could obtain medical help. I contacted 2 other GP surgeries in Torquay who proved to be very unhelpful. Luckily my third call was to Chilcote and the difference in attitude was amazing. The Receptionist listened to my problem and after a relatively short time, explained how she intended to help me. I was registered as a temporary patient and informed that a Doctor would contact me within one hour to discuss my condition. Being an old cynic, I took this to mean 3days - never. Around 50 minutes later, I was contacted by a Doctor who discussed my condition and decided that she really needed to examine me. Could I attend the surgery within the next 15 minutes? The examination was thorough and she gave her diagnosis in terms that were easily understood. She proposed a treatment plan and asked if I agreed with her proposal. Now, 5-6 days after medication began, I feel well again. For me, this is exceptional service and I would like to thank Chilcote for their care and professionalism.
