I was in ITU for sepsis, ventilated with acute renal failure, poor liver function tests. The hospital stipulated I needed appointment with my Gp and I needed bloods Repeated in 2 weeks post discharge. I rang the surgery the day of discharge. The earliest appointment available was 5 weeks post discharge. GP appointment on 19 th oct. I booked in electronically well before the appointment time. I was the only patient in the surgery as they were about to lock up. I went to the reception desk and said I had an appointment over half an hour ago. The receptionist said it was a telephone consultation, I said this was incorrect and it was booked as a face to face consultation and that was made clear at time of booking. This left the doctor with very little time to see me. I tried to book the bloods as they were locking up the surgery. The earliest appointment was 15 days later. I was Unable to drive so the appointment was not made I did not make as I had to consult with a friend when she could take me as I was recovering at her house. I tried the following day and told there were no appointments available. I wrote an email to the practice on the 25th asking if I could collect the blood forms so I could get the bloods done at the hospital. The website says you should have a response within 24 hrs no response came. I wrote again on the 5th October asking for blood forms and a sickness certificate as the one issued expired 10 th of October. I had an appointment with occupational health on the 18 th October. There was no response to the second email. I hand delivered a letter to go to the doctor to inform him of having trouble accessing bloods and a sick certificate. I rang the surgery on the as I had a return to work meeting with my managers on the 12th Nov occupational health needed a response from my Gp with the return to work certificate and a sick certificate up to that date. On Wednesday the surgery made contact I missed the call as I have builders working when I realised a couple of hrs later I explained the problem and was told they would get back to me on that day which no one did on Thursday I was told I needed to go back to occupational health to confirm fitness to work explained I saw occupational health and that they were requesting for the surgery to issue the fit to woand was not able to come back until it was issued and that they also require bloods to be done. The earliest appointment again was 14 days but date of return was 26th. I was told that the surgery hadn't seen me in some while I explained they saw me around 7 weeks ago and no follow- up was requested by the doctor. I was advised they no longer issue fit to return forms, but work require one to return. East Surrey and Brighton hospital require fit to return certificates. I asked again for blood forms. Advised that they would get back to me that day but no- one did. (No room to comment further). |

Called in late afternoon, said no more appt, only take urgent calls
HOW ON EARTH ONE IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE A NORMAL APPT?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the answer is, keep trying for 2 more months, then go to A&E when you are dying |

Born and raised in Worthing and this surgery was my only one. I moved to London for 12 years but never moved my surgery and used to come in once a year or two. Finally moved back with my wife and it took 3 trips and 3 weeks to be registered. Each trip we were given incorrect information. At one point the receptionist said, before I even spoke, "I'm only covering lunch". Always a good start. After we got registered (still no confirmation or anything that it has happened) my wife went to book an appointment. She was placed on "hold" but the reception forgot to place her on hold and she overheard the conversation. Don't need to detail what was said, but basically it wasn't nice. Called to complain and manager was nice about it, but I very much don't much would be done. Called again today and no appointments. Appreciate the pressure but it doesn't help when the reception are so rude. |
