I really wouldn’t recommend this doctors surgery. I was very rash joining this surgery but did it quickly as I had a newborn who would need their jabs. I have been to the doctors a few times with different matters regarding my baby- but feel like my GP is patronising and makes me feel like I’m overreacting and belittles me. It makes me not want to attend the surgery without my husband as she has made me feel so rubbish and makes me want to cry by the end of the appt. Going from having a lovely surgery where nothing was to much trouble and the GP’s listened to what you had to say, to then joining Needham market practice was a shock and I will be looking for another doctors surgery for my family to attend. The positive: all but one GP have been friendly and helpful. One GP humiliated my child and was rude to me. I can get through on the phone usually in under 20 minutes and I can often get an appointment when needed. The negative: after 8 months of calls and a letter from a consultant they have still not written the correct prescription for potentially life saving medication for a child. After speaking to a number of friendly , helpful receptionists after bad experiences in the past I thought things had improved and panicked less about making a call. But then I call and get a receptionist who refuses to give me the information I asked for, which other receptionists have given me and they have to give to me. Then speaks over me repeatedly and refuses to allow me to complete a single sentence so does not know what my request is and the backround to my request. Nobody should end a call to their GP surgery in tears just because of how they're treated by the receptionist. And it shouldn't take 8 months to get the prescription correct, or longer as it is no closer to be correct despite the consultant writing what it needs to say. I did write a review about 6 months ago. After seeing the headline in the local newspaper about the surgery not taking on further patients after losing five GPs in a year. My wife and I are both patients and we have nothing but praise for the service received. I can understand the frustrations of some people. We always only attend the surgery because in our mind the problem we have is a serious one and we all believe it to be unique and very serious which must be remedied with the upmost haste. This is when we should take a deep breath and realise everyone you speak at the practice is trying to help and will do everything in their power to provide you with a positive result. The practice is obviously working under severe duress, having had to absorb the further 2,000 patients from the Claydon area and that doesn’t include the huge numbers of patients wishing to join who have just moved in to one of the hundreds of newly built home. My wife and I are both of pensionable age neither of us are very good with the new technology but we try and if all else fails we put pen to paper, which has alway received an excellent response. I can not say a bad word about the practice. As for the Pharmacy, they have been fantastic. We have elderly parents who live 300 miles 5 hours away who we try to support one of them has dementia so we try to support mum my wife has Multiple Sclerosis so I support her, of the four of us I am the only driver. The pharmacy have been amazing able to provide us with medication when needed which helps prevent further stress. No one said retirement was going to be boring. So please let’s have fewer moans and a bit more understanding for an overstretched staff Help them to help you or we will loose our local surgery and we will all finish up sitting for 6 or 7 hours at A&E I hope this is not too long and is also relevant.
