Having gone in for a colonoscopy, a procedure which I was absolutely dreading, it was made so much easier by the care and kindness of the Dr and nurses looking after me. I felt that my comfort, care and wellbeing were a high priority for the staff, who made me feel very relaxed throughout. |

I have had cause to visit this practice on numerous occasions over the past 16 months, having had sepsis and requiring a number of urgent GP appointments to assess me for possible recurrence of sepsis, as well as a large number of appointments with the nursing staff to manage an open wound for many months. Throughout this period, and despite the obvious pressures facing the practice during the pandemic, whenever I have needed to be seen urgently I have been given an appointment quickly and with a minimum of fuss. On several occasions was an urgent need to manage possible recurrence of sepsis, although most thankfully were false alarms; however, on each occasion I was reassured that I should contact the practice at the first sign of potential reinfection and I have no doubt that without the care provided by the GPs and nurses in the practice I would have had a much worse outcome. Indeed, on my last visit, the GP wrote to my hospital consultant to insist that I receive priority treatment, given my recurring symptoms and am pleased to report that this had the desired effect and I had the required operation sooner than I would otherwise have done. Im aware there have been difficulties with accessing appointments across all GP surgeries, but in my experience when I really needed GP care it was provided with professionalism and genuine care. I am truly grateful for the service I have received from this practice and do not think they could have done anything more. I have had outstanding treatment at the Horton, the John Radcliffe and Churchill hospitals over the past 16 months, having originally been admitted for emergency surgery following sepsis in the surgical emergency unit (SEU), with a second operation there two months later, another major operation at the Churchill in November, and another emergency admission in January. Despite the evident pressures that all hospitals were under throughout this period due to the pandemic, from my first visit to the Horton A&E where I was quickly diagnosed with a serious illness, immediately transferred to the John Radcliffe for emergency surgery and subsequent operations there and at the Churchill, the staff demonstrated thoroughly professional values and superb care at every stage. Without doubt they have saved my life and have given the treatment necessary to enable me to regain my quality-of-life, all at a time when staff have been under relentless pressure. All I can say is a genuine heartfelt thank you for all that you have done for me and for the other patients that I saw you careful while staying in your hospitals. Please be proud of what you do. |
