Waited months for an appointment to only then feel judged throughout the entire session due to my lifestyle choices. Didn’t really end up discussing medication, despite it being a medication review and was left feeling more alone and more of a burden. This just highlighted my view regarding how there is no help and that you are really better off only helping yourself. I understand my condition means lifelong and that I’ve already been able to live with it for years. However, I just feel so lost still and it felt that the staff were lost as well as there is still so much they need to learn and uncover about mental health. They didn’t really offer answers or support and was told if things get bad again, to contact my GP. It’s like a viscous cycle that never ends and you just get passed around to all these professionals that refer you on to others as they just don’t know what they are doing or how to help. I understand bipolar cannot be cured but the treatments offered to me was medication or nothing. I was made to feel that I need to learn to live with it and that I should Google strategies on how to cope, as if I havnt tried that in the past 10 years. |

My husband attended Julian Hospital Rose Ward for about 20 months from June 2020 to February 2022. His illness are complex needs from Alzheimer’s Foretemporal dementia which sometimes is known as Picks disease. My consultant diagnosed his illnesses in December 2017 although he had been ill several years before this. I tried to cope looking after him for several years but things got quickly worse when he had to be sectioned. This was such a tragic time for my husband, myself and the rest of my family. I am writing this review to tell you about the excellent staff at Julian Hospital in particular Rose Ward. I cannot praise enough how the dedication,Caring professionalism, compassion, patience staff who were involved in my husband’s care. He was always treated with a great deal of respect and treated him as an individual rather than a number. Nothing was too much trouble in his care. The staff went beyond in his care. The staff became well known to myself and although it was and still is a upsetting time for me they gave me a great deal of support.I give my sincere thank you to each and every one looked after my husband and myself and I will be internally greatful for the special things you did from speaking to my husband in German. Playing his favourite music and sitting and playing his guitar to him and many more things that were done and beyond to ease his each day with dignity. I hope this review is passed to the staff on Rose Ward.with my sincere thank you. I have not named any member of staff because it would be difficult to mention everyone and I might upset someone. |
