    Barron Winnicott, Bath

Barron Winnicott is a residential home without nursing in Bath. We provide long and short term care and support to 8 deaf men and women under 65 years of age, with a wide range of support needs including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder, low emotional confidence and mental ill health.

    What&s important to us?

    • Providing a service that is person-centred and focuses on what the people we support want and like
    • Involving the people we support in all decisions about their lives, home and community
    • Doing our best to help the people we support to achieve their individual goals
    • Nurturing and celebrating peoples differences
    • Being a creative and flexible team
    • Using what we learn to change what we do and how we do it
    • Being accountable and honest
    • Communicating with the people we support in lots of different ways such as BSL, pictures and life stories

Our intensive and specialist support helps people who already have some level of independence skills to build on these and take on new challenges and opportunities – so that in the future they can move on to living more independently in their own communities.

This is what CQC said about us at our most recent inspection:

We saw that staff were respectful and caring. Staff gave time for people when they needed it. One person told us they were "very happy here". One staff told us they felt their role was all about "promoting independence" and "getting people out doing things, college courses etc".

Care plans reflected each persons individual communication needs and preferences. We saw people were involved in developing their own pictorial versions where they did not read. Families were encouraged to be involved as much as possible.
