Care Home Information |
Aranlaw House is part of the Luxurycare family. This Care Home specialises in providing care to those who have medium to high (complex) dementia care needs in a safe, secure and warm environment. The staff benefit from enhanced dementia training which allows them to use different strategies to manage distressed, anxious and agitated residents. This approach extends to dining and understanding that those with dementia sometimes prefer finger foods or a variety of small dishes to encourage and assist with their nutritional needs. Claire Birch who trained as a social worker specialising in mental health and dementia proudly manages the Home with an extensive staff team. Aranlaw House firmly believes that we need to enter the reality of the person who has dementia, rather than force our reality which they can find uncomfortable and difficult. Come and see our walled garden, meet our staff team and see how we have equipped the Home to settle our residents. & Our video: https://youtu.be/d1gesoGeeOQ |

My husband was moved from another care home as he was given a mere 24 hours notice due to his challenging mental health behaviour due to vascular dementia. When we arrived at Arunlaw we were treated with great love and support. My husband was also treated with love and care. he was very confused due to his condition and although being only there a few days I feel all the staff whether male or female are trained highly in caring for my husbands needs. He needs restraining sometimes with personal care, but since he has been there this seems to have abated as they ensure the patient is kept calm by talking and reassuring them during this time. The manager is also taking care of me as due to the sudden shock and deterioration of my husband, I have been very traumatised as his last home and the way I was treated there has affected me greatly. My only worry is how he will be funded and this is sad and adds to my stress as dementia is an illness just like cancer, but somehow it seems as if it's a stigma in society, this needs to change and soon. |
