My 87 year old sister moved in with Alzheimer's 15 months ago and both she and our family have been very happy with the care and attention she has received throughout this time. The facilities are modern and purpose built. She has a very pleasant room looking out onto fields. She had spent a lifetime in Institutional Catering roles and has always expressed satisfaction with the meals she receives.
There is a very full activities programme and, although she is by nature a shy person, she participates in many and enjoys them.
The qualified nursing team ensure that she now takes all her medication-- which she was failing to do when living alone.
I would recommend anyone to go and visit Stowford House and be positively surprised by how good life can be for those no longer able to look after themselves. |

My mother has been in there for over 5 years. Throughout her time the communication between nurses had been appalling. Carers do not read or act upon care plans, food has been poor both in terms of quality and nutrition. The whole place is grubby and shabby. Little attempt is made to (a) clean residents hands prior to and after meals, (b) tables are dirty. Things go missing all the time. There has been massive staff turnover generally and we are now on the 6th Manager in 6 years. In the 18 months the previous manager was in situ, things did improve but it was a massive task. The new manager is totally unapproachable, keeps their door closed, seems to work very short hours and takes forever to answer emails. When they do eventually respond to them questions are not answered. Everything is now sliding very quickly back downhill. I despair. |

Mother has been in the home for 17 months she is as happy as she can be in a home. The care workers and staff are good . I tend to call at irregular times things always seem to be in order and as they should be . I have asked to be kept informed if there are problems which has happened a couple of times. Would I place her in this home knowing what I know now yes they do their beat for her. |
