It is a truly daunting task to decide the future for a parent when they are no longer able to cope alone. It was with a lot of trepidation that I undertook this huge responsibility for my mum. With advancing dementia and mobility difficulties, I had huge concerns about any care home recognising and meeting Mum’s needs , whilst also caring about the person she had been before dementia and frailty defined her. Thank goodness for The Vicarage! From the very first meeting the staff took time to really listen and talk to Mum. Having chosen her room, light and airy with a fabulous view, the carer mentioned that there is always an ongoing programme of redecoration and updating in hand so Mum was able to choose colours she would like and where she wanted shelves for her books and ornaments, where she wanted her pictures hung. I could see her confidence increasing by the minute as she shared her recipe for scones with the carer. Her move went smoothly with constant care and reassurance from the staff when she forgot where she had put things. In the following weeks, I was so impressed with the communication from the staff at The Vicarage, letting me know how Mum was doing. I was always warmly welcomed when I visited and delighted to find Mum engaged in the brilliant entertainment programme. Her appetite had returned and having tasted the food, I could see why! I cannot recommend The Vicarage and it’s dedicated, warm friendly staff enough. They define the “care” all Homes should aim for . A real home from home for my Mum at the end of her life. |

My father in law had respite care at the Vicarage for a few years before becoming a permanent resident in January. This was for end of life care and he passed away peacefully at the home this summer. I would like to thank all the staff and management for the way they looked after my dad. Nothing was too much. It was so hard to see him getting weaker and weaker but I can't fault the love and compassion he was given. Thank you so much |

My mother was admitted to the Vicarage 8 months ago. She suffers from mild dementia and walking difficulties. Staff and manager could not have been more helpful and kind with my mother or our family when we visit. Rooms are comfortable and a large selection of different sizes. Very sunny property and the garden has been much improved as mum loves the flowers. Entertainments are good and the food is excellent and plentiful. We are all very happy as is mum |
