After 6 weeks of increasing concern about the care or lack in this place I have the following comments to make...don’t really know where to start. My elderly mum still has all her faculties , yet is spoken to and treated by some members of staff as if she hasnt. There simply are not enough staff to help with basic needs in the evening and weekends especially. It is difficult to make yourself understood and understand some staff because their use and understanding of the English language is poor. They seem to struggle with simple tasks eg. organizing laundry , meaning my mum has sometimes had to wait for clean clothes. My mum presses the button for some help, it can remain unanswered for lengthy periods meaning she has used her mobile to contact family members to ask us to ring them, or to say she is stuck. On querying this I am assured this isn’t the case if she falls as pressure pads would alert to a fall, but it has also been suggested that she isn’t waiting. However , my mum isn’t particularly demanding and I do believe she is having lengthy waits. Change over of staff early morning means they have to wait for whatever, because of sharing of notes etc. When I ring to ask them to do little jobs , they always say yes of course but rarely do eg. please find out what size mums trousers are so I can buy her some more, or please help mum make a phone call etc . These little things do matter. It is so upsetting especially as her close family don’t live nearby to feel she is not being properly cared for.

My mother has been fully residential for just over a year now, in Meadowfield, and during that time she has received nothing but the best care available. ALL the staff carryout their duties to the very best of their abilities, to all the people at Meadowfield. Their cooperation and help when pending hospital visits are required, organizing transport when required, all help to de-stress a difficult situation. In the unfortunate times when mum hasn't been well, the doctor or other medical assistance has been summoned as soon as possible. My mother has not once complained to me about living at Meadowfield House, and I have not had any cause for concern, everyone is working toward the common good. Thank you.

My father was transferred here after a long stay in hospital and we were both very anxious about it. He arrived in the evening and the staff made him feel very welcome and comfortable and really put our minds at ease. With help from the therapists and the care staff he was able to go home after a few weeks which we didn't think was going to be possible. Meadowfield really helped him get his independence back and provided care and compassion during a really difficult time. On my visits I noticed a lovely atmosphere and staff were always polite and helpful and really lovely with my dad. This was my family's first experience of a care home and we were all impressed. Dad is well on his way to good health now but if he ever had to go back here again there would be no apprehensions from him or our family. Thank you to all the staff for everything you did for him

Thank you for your kind comments about the staff. At Meadowfield House, we provide a number of services, including a rehabilitation programme delivered in partnership with the NHS. The purpose of the rehabilitation programme is to help people achieve their optimum level of independence following a life event, which may have reduced their ability to live independently temporarily. We are really pleased to hear your father is doing well and you found your experiences at Meadowfield House a positive one. Your comments have been shared with the staff concerned. Once again, we would like to thank you for taking the time to comment on our service as your comments are very important to us. Best regards The Management Team at Meadowfield House
