Woodhouse Hall Care Home

Located in the village of East Ardsley in West Yorkshire, Woodhouse Hall is a specialised service supporting both male and female adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health illnesses with complex needs, who may also present behaviours that challenge.

We strive to ensure we work in a person centred way meaning all service users have the opportunity to live the life they want to. This is achieved by the staff team listening carefully to individuals, their family and friends to aid the generating of a person centred care plan which is reviewed regularly to ensure people&s ever changing needs and support requirements are met.

The nearest college is located in Dewsbury which has many courses that individuals can access if they wish. We support service users to use local community amenities to develop their social awareness and engagement with the local community. These include the leisure centre, shops, library, college,

Some of the service users at Woodhouse Hall have little or no verbal communication. We work closely with the local speech and language therapy team and our service users to identify their level of understanding to a level that they can understand and results in the use of imagery in care plans, daily timetables, menus and the use of gestures, signs and symbols.

The service offers 24/7 specialist residential support and is committed to providing just enough support to empower and encourage individuals to develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible and achieve positive outcomes for all.

The service is also supported by a quality assurance team including a specialist learning disability advisor whose aim is to empower service users to take control of their lives, and where possible, work towards a level of independence which fits with their skills, confidence and aspirations.
