From the outside and from first impressions Lancaster Grange gives the impression it is modern well equipped care home , which could justify the highest care fees of any care home in the vicinity of Newark. Based on reviews since it opened it has clearly justified a high reputation for the care it offered. However , for more than a year now the home has suffered from poor management which has resulted in some indifferent levels of care. As a result in the latest CQC report from the inspection in June 2019 it is now only rated as Inadequate . As a result the home has voluntarily stopped taking in new admissions. There are clear issues with the staffing levels , particularly for those in need of additional medical care. Newark deserves and needs a care home with better levels of care than Lancaster Grange is delivering today. Let’s hope the Barchester Group , rather than exploit the most needy with their high fees , do invest money back with the right level of management and the resources to train staff , and to raise the standard of care back to a far better level than today. Thank you to those members of the support staff who daily do have the mindset to do their utmost to help residents , whilst working under such difficult circumstances. Reply from Barchester Lancaster Grange Care Home Thu, 08 Aug 2019 12:03:32 +0100 Lancaster Grange is committed to an ever improving standard of care to those living within the service. The issues raised in the inspection had been identified by the team here and actions were being taken with further improvements continuing to be made. We are working very closely with CQC, Nottinghamshire County council and Nottinghamshire CCG to deliver the service that the residents deserve. We have placed an experienced manager in the home to implement these changes and the whole team is committed to delivering the standard of care that is expected at a Barchester Care home. We have met and fully informed residents and relatives of our plans and are moving forward daily in striving to ensure Lancaster Grange is the wonderful place to live it has always been. |
