This practice isn't fit for purpose,every time I call to make a GPs appointment I'm told yr too late phone tmra..or the phone is just put down. It's been 4yrs since I've not been able to see a gp.and have an ongoing health problem that needs looking into.but impossible to get an appointment. I spend a lot of time in Indonesia,where the Docs are 20x better than here in the UK,. I've even forgotten my GPs name because of the time I've not been able to see a Doc.. Maybe I should go onto the Barge in Portman and get seen straight away. Appalling practice,I'm in the process Of writing to the MP for this area and the Ombudsman to attempt to get at least an appointment. Regards Ak Mack | ||||||

I had the misfortune of becoming unwell, after discussing my condition with a member of the Brunel Practice St. Marychurch, was given an appointment.
The level of care I received was exstremely attentive and informative, lessening my anxieties and concerns throughout my visit.
I therefore would like to thank all the staff who so very kindly looked after me.

I have been given constant bad service here. Once i even complained to practice management that it took 8 hours for a doctor to call me (they couldnt see me you see) about my babys rash. I mentioned that the staff should know that the doctor should know about this sooner and the Doctor said to me they agreed at the time (not sure which doctor). anyhow practice management was constantly rude and antagonising. The only reason myself and my wife and 3 kids stay is our named GP, who is first class! It is irritating that you cannot book in advance, i am a business man and i can only come in on Fridays, but due to not being able to book i have missed my flu jab, which being athsmatic is very dangerous! Anyhow i wont dream complain as the practice management will only antagonise me again Reply from Brunel Medical Practice (St Marychurch) Fri, 30 Jan 2015 07:59:01 Z I am so very sorry to hear of the problems you have encountered with regards to both your telephone consultation about your baby's rash and your flu jab. With regards to your baby's rash it is very unusual for a telephone call back to take 8 hours. I appreciate our system is not perfect however we offer an option of either a face to face appointment or a telephone consultation and then once all our appointments are booked we offer telephone consultations. All patients who ring the surgery in the morning will be called back by 12.30 pm a maximum of four hours, however most patients receive a call back within an hour. All patients who ring after 12.30 for an urgent consultation with the GP will also normally be rung back within an hour but this is dependant on any urgent visits the GP may have to undertake. In addition the GPs who have telephone consultations are able to book appointments for those patients they need to see. In the case of children we highlight the telephone call on the system so the GP knows it is a child and as such they are prioritised. With regards to the flu vaccination I am very sorry we were not able to fit you in on a Friday. A number of our patients were unable to make either of our four Saturday clinics throughout October and November or any of our mid week clinics, but they were accommodated within normal nursing clinics without any problem. However for patients who work away there is now the option to register at a practice near to where they live or work. This provides those patients with better access to acute and routine treatment, and is actively encouraged by the Department of Health as a way to avoid patients using A&E or other out of hours services because they are unable to get to their GP surgery. We do also offer 'book in advance' appointments which can be made either in person, by telephone or on line. These appointments are available Monday - Friday, early in the morning and throughout the day and can be booked up to two weeks in advance. With regards to your concern about making a complaint direct because practice management are rude and antagonising, I don't recognise any of the concerns you have raised so I am not sure who you have spoken to, but if you would like to call me we can look at resolving these issues.
