Long Close Retirement Home

This review is intended as constructive criticism and based on personal experience, on behalf of my late father. He was assessed and accepted as a resident, at very short-notice. For that , I am very grateful as he was vulnerable and at risk in his own home. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful but after a few days, I was asked to find an alternative placement, ideally by the end of the week (giving me three days notice). I accept that his behaviour at night was causing distress to residents and staff and it was also made clear that he could remain longer if necessary. However, it would have been better if initial assessment had identified that his needs at night might be best served elsewhere, to avoid the distress of finding an alternative home after only three days. Perhaps it could also be made clearer in the information provided about the home . I note that two staff are awake at night and part of their role is to clean communal areas. Clearly this would have presented a problem in my father's case and it would have been better to be aware of this from the outset. Finally, I accept that my father's declining health was quite rapid and the cause yet to be assessed. .
