My mother moved to St Joseph's care home in May 2015. Staff have made her very welcome and try their best to meet her needs. Her room is comfortable and homely. The manager promptly responds to any communication and the phone is answered in a timely manner, unlike some homes when I was making enquiries. My mother has limited mobility and suffers from Parkinson's. The care home is small, but this gives my mother confidence to try to keep mobile walking the short distance between her room and the lounge or dining hall. The gardens are beautifully maintained and there is a quiet and calm feel to the home. The meals are good and drinks are always available for residents and visitors.
My mother's medication is dispensed by qualified staff who answer any concerns or questions I may have. |

My mother is not eating a main meal because the cooking is so lacking. Her bed is not changed weekly as it should be, and she misses her weekly bath. My sister and I have to make an issue of calling our mother's doctor out when she is ill, and we have to make the appointment asking more than once of the surgery.
My mother considers St Josephs unsupervised at the weekend. There is no wheelchair access and I have to push my mother in a wheelchair over a wooden doors frame. My mother considers the provision of occupational therapy to be sketchy and the entertainment provided is of the level unsuited to intelligent beings. |
