This care home is extremely well looked after by a dedicated team of friendly and professional staff. The residents are well cared for in all aspects. The rooms are well appointed and all of the residents I met were happy with the level of attention afforded them. This care home does care for a number of dementia residents and intermediaries which can lead to some related outbursts. These are dealt with immediately. Upon entrance to this care home there was a pleasant smell which continued throughout which is refreshing given that some care homes have a latent smell of urine and stale odours. The cleaning team are meticulous in their duties to ensure that a high level of hygiene is maintained. I would advise anyone who may have any concerns with this care home to visit it and see for themselves. Should you wish to ask for any further information from me then I would be only too happy to address any of your queries. Overall a very pleasant visit. After 32 years military service and reaching the rank of Warrant Officer I have very high standards. I left this care home with no concerns. The high score given by the CQC was well merited.

decoration in rooms awful worn dingy //.curtains off rails .. windows locked . .floors sticky .. .. noisy ..buzzers continuously going off and patients shouting for nurse ( yes i know they do but i was visiting every afternoon for several hours took over 20 minutes to come to the shouter ) staff were on end of corridor .. ..although staff were kind when they actually went to them .. on my side i visited mum to find dried excrement on the toilet seat and had to go ask someone to clean it .. . the part mum was in stunk of urine ,i couldn't wait to get her home even though it was probably not the best thing //other points no regular bus only a number 10 which doesn't serve north end Sheffield its on a steep hill either up or down to get another bus 95 and if you have a car its a very small car park hard to get in /out .Worse thing ever when council shut homes down They were far better. And this is a respite hospital! .IT Very Definitely needs cleaning up and decorating don't know how QCH got their 9.3 rate!

Relative referred here for NHS Intermediate Care following discharge from hospital and before eventual transfer home. Everything is gloomy, shabby, old and tired and there is a faint smell of pee on entering the residential areas. The carpets in the corridors are worn and the carpet in my relative's room was actually sticky. The floor covering in the en suite WC was worn and didn't look particularly nice. Some of the rooms are directly overlooked by local maisonettes, therefore compromising privacy, particularly as there are no blinds, or sheers to the bedroom windows. The curtains are also of thin, poor quality and are unlined, so probably slightly see through at night. The day chair in the bedroom wasn't suitable for someone with mobility issues on standing and mobilising. At the prices this company charges they need to invest in proper riser/recliner chairs and sort out the generally old, shabby and unwelcoming decor. The whole place needs a complete upgrade. On the positive side, the staff did seem friendly and helpful. I did "overhear" snippets of conversation though from a number of staff complaining of being tired as they were nearing the end of a 12 hour shift! That's not good for the staff, or the residents. Seeing the standards in this place has made me very worried about what's in store when me and my husband get to needing this type of care. I was also surprised that the NHS consider this a good environment for intermediate care and rehabilitation. My relative was very down hearted about his surroundings and that does not bode well for a good and positive rehabilitation.
