We are very sorry that the service you received was disappointing. We as a practice have realised that the appointment system is not working for the patients or the staff within Orchard House Surgery, therefore we have audited the system and it is clear that improvements are required. The reason for the changes is that two GP partners have left the surgery recently and we find this leaves us with only 2 part time GP partners to manage the patient list. Due to the GP shortages, we have employed a Nurse Prescriber and two long term locum GP's to help with the workload. I am sure you are aware from the national press that this is an national problem throughout the country that we find ourselves with a shortage of GP's. We are pleased to inform you that we have now changed all the slot types on MY GP app so it is clear who the appointments are with eg. HCA, Nurse Prescriber etc. The slots are released every day Mon to Friday at 8am and are visible on MY GP App. We hope you find this to be an improved service.

We are very sorry you have found our appointment system so frustrating. We can inform you that we have listened and have changed the booking system. Unfortunately two of our GP partners have left the practice, therefore we only have two part time GP partners, as you will be aware this is a national problem. We are currently trialing a new system, which is basically, we release one full days appointments every day for the corresponding day the following week. We are hoping that this will prove to be more patient friendly, until we are able to recruit more GP partners. We have had a few comments already from patients informing us that they find this system more user friendly. We have improved MYGP app by amending the slot types by clinician eg Routine GP, HCA, NP. These are released at 8am each morning, Monday to Friday. We have had feedback from some patients that find this much easier than trying to ring the practice. We thank you for your comments, we take our patients opinions very seriously and we are disappointed that you are planning to leave the practice. We would be grateful if you could contact a manager to discuss the above issues as we need to fully investigate your concerns accordingly. We are always striving to improve our service.
